You can either do education or a concubine from raiding. I didn't include the part about going Christian. (I say relatively because it will still suck if you lose all your tributaries too soon.) Once you have a succession law that keeps your demesne intact, you should be relatively okay even if your ruler dies tragically. Once your young ruler has been in power for at least ten years and meets every other criteria for succession change, pop the decision and immediately change succession law. Once he comes to power, set about making every single neighbor (if possible-of course you can't get every one if you border Khazaria or something) as a tributary. Once you have at least your capital tribe fully upgraded (and hopefully your whole capital duchy if you have a lot more patience than I do), wait for the next really young ruler. Going tribal to feudal all rides on one long-lived ruler.
